Here at El Palauet Living Barcelona we love to provide our guests with healthy breakfasts, get up and go smoothies and encourage them to take a moment to relax in our rooftop spa. Outside, Barcelona may seem to some a hectic city but here we show you the best places for relaxation and wellness in the city…

Teresa Carles Group

Teresa Carles: C/Jovellanos, 2 Flax and Kale: C/Tallers, 74

Teresa Carles started her vegetarian restaurant in Lleida back in the 1970’s when vegetarianism in Spain was almost unheard of. The fantastic use of flavours and innovative recipes turned the restaurant into a booming success in this typically meat eating country and the family opened a restaurant in Zaragoza before opening their biggest restaurant to date in Barcelona in 2011. Vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike flocked to the Teresa Carles restaurant and soon they extended with Flax and Kale introducing a more carnivore friendly ‘flexetarian’ approach and combining the restaurant with Teresa’s Juicery, bringing the juicing craze to Barcelona. The food is healthy, fresh and so full of flavour it could turn even the most ardent meat lover onto vegetarian fare. Don’t forget to stock up on the juices to take home too.

Herboristeria del Rei

C/ Vidre, 1

One of the oldest shops in Barcelona, the Herboristeria del Rei opened in 1818 and moved to its current premises just five years later, in 1823. A shop with more history than most, Isabel II gave the proprietors the title of Suppliers to the Royal Household and is well worth a visit just for the décor. Designed by a theatre set designer, Fransesc Soler i Rovirosa, the Herboristeria del Rei has a marble fountain in the middle of the shop floor topped with a bust of renowned Swedish naturalist Carlos Linneo, which was formerly used to hold leeches. Trinitat Sabatés is the current owner and also holder of the title of Master of Medicinal Plants awarded to her by the Government of Catalonia. An incredibly knowledgeable woman, she can guide you through the over 220 varieties of medicinal plants the shops holds, telling you their properties and health benefits. The Herboristeria del Rei also has a wide selection of natural cosmetics, essential oils, dietary supplements and gift items for the health concious person in your life. More than a shop, more than an institution, the Herboristeria del Rei is part of Barcelona history and hopefully its future too.

aire de barcelona

Aire de Barcelona

Passeig de Picasso, 22

Sometimes city life can be stressful, even when you’re just here on holiday. All the hustle and bustle sometimes makes us yearn to take a few hours to relax in a calm space. Luckily there is just such a space in the El Born neighbourhood. Aire de Barcelona is an Arabic style spa with various pools of different temperatures, Jacuzzis, and saunas. An hour relaxing the in various thermal baths and sauna can be combined with massages and body treatment rituals, and couples visiting Barcelona can choose a special package with time in the spa combined with a private couples massage. The Arabic décor lends the spa an air of decadence and you’ll certainly go away feeling pampered and relaxed.

Leave it to Barcelona

http://www.leaveittobarcelona.com/

We said at the beginning of the post that we love having our guests relaxing on our rooftop terrace and with Leave it to Barcelona you can combine just that with exercise and sightseeing. Leave it to Barcelona, run by the very lovely Colleen Abuhaidar, offers Barcelona based wellness holidays. When you think of wellness holidays a city break may not be the first thing that springs to mind but Leave it to Barcelona combines beach workouts, rooftop yoga and pilates classes with sightseeing and food and drink in only the best Barcelona bars and restaurants. Colleen and her team offer this unique blend to only small, select groups each time and of course we welcome them at El Palauet Living Barcelona, giving them time to rest in our suites and offering some of the classes on our rooftop terrace, giving each client the chance to practice their sun salutations beneath the Barcelona sky.
