Plaza Prim, 1
In a neigbourhood that borders the sea and once inhabited almost exclusively by fishermen there must be a great seafood restaurant, and Els Pescadors is that restaurant. Originally a meeting place for those men who worked all day out at sea, the tavern transformed over the years into more formal dining rooms and further dining rooms were added in the 1980s. The place to sit, however, is the terrace. Set in the beautiful Plaçeta Prim, a haven of traditional two and three storey buildings amongst the area’s modern high rises, it is the perfect backdrop enjoy to Els Pescadors’ contemporary twists on classic dishes; on the menu Arroz caldoso sits alongside ‘green rice with perfectly salted cod cheeks’. Not a fish lover? Do not fear there is a good selection of meat dishes, and of course plenty of appetizers and desserts. The wine cellar is a treasure trove of mainly Catalan wines and cavas which are the perfect accompaniment to each part of your meal. A true delight.
